I don’t know about you, but when I think of Victoria Beckham‘s design aesthetic on her eponymous denim line or ready-to-wear collection, structured pieces tailored to a woman’s curves come to mind. That’s why I was surprised to see the first photos from Victoria by Victoria Beckham, her new and slightly more affordable (we’re still talking $550 – $900) dresses line, which features younger, slouchier cuts than past designs. What surprised me even more, however, is that the Victoria by Victoria Beckham collection (which is set to début in stores Spring 2011) was apparently inspired by Emily the Strange…who, for those of you don’t know, is a “counterculture character” with a feline following. In my experience, I’ve only ever seen Emily the Strange merchandise sold at Hot Topic.
Although Vbecks may have been channeling her inner Emo Spice on this line, when it comes down to it, the dresses are actually pretty cute.
