The Yves Saint Laurent ‘Touche Éclat’ Radiant Touch concealer pen is celebrating it’s 20th anniversary this month. You might think it’s silly to celebrate the anniversary of a concealer, but considering 1 Touche Eclat is sold
every 10 seconds, it makes perfect sense. This product has been a red carpet staple thanks to it’s ability to erase dark circles and make skin look luminous. The only downside is the $40 price tag. Luckily, there’s a less expensive alternative to this product:
Maybelline’s Dream LumiTouch Highlighting Concealer ($6.44). This concealer has the same highlighting effect as the Touche Eclat. It also offers great coverage and easily blends into the skin, easily covering dark circles and blemishes.
Here are the 3 major differences between the 2 products: 1) Maybelline’s concealer only comes in 6 shades, compared to YSL’s 12, 2) the Maybelline concealer comes with less product than the YSL and 3) the packaging. The packaging of Maybelline’s Dream LumiTouch is, well, it’s kind of crappy. The clear lid gets clogged with product and the writing quickly wears off. This doesn’t affect the performance of the product, but the application can get slightly messy. Overall, it’s a good product for the price.
But there’s no doubt in my mind that Touche Eclat is worth every penny. There’s a reason that it’s been cult favorite for 20 years. For the product’s 20th anniversary, YSL is releasing 5 new shades–meaning you can find an even more perfect match for your skin tone. And f you a sucker for beautiful packaging, you’ll love this limited edition version, which features hammered gold and crystals. Check it out below:
