It’s probably no coincidence that our culture’s biggest holidays are focused within a timeframe that tends to be very cold and very dark. Instead of looking out and wishing away bad weather, we gather with our families to give thanks and celebrate the new year to come, all within a short span of a month and a half — and the coldest has yet to hit. You have Valentine’s day, Mardi Gras, then spring break, of course, which is always just a few weeks too early (and subsequently still freezing), but at least with each holiday’s passing, you know the warmer days aren’t all that far ahead.
Culture gives us a lot of reasons not to fully despise the below zero temperatures, but so does fashion. With the colder weather, it’s time to pull out sweatshirts and leggings and then cuddle up in front of your favorite winter movie (and the new Carrie definitely counts), thankful that there are such things are fleece lined socks and cotton-terry tops.
Because when it comes to a good winter’s night at home, your look doesn’t have to mimic the drab weather. These sweatshirts, leggings, tops and, yes, even socks are insanely comfortable, warm and still stylish — at least enough for you to be able to run down to the local store for more hot tea, cocoa or Bailey’s (no judgement!) if need be.
