The only thing that could be standing between you and a faster, more efficient iPhone battery is a few common iPhone charging mistakes and habits that are simple to correct. Charging your phone sounds like one of those habits that should be a no-brainer, but the reality is a little more complex than that. There are a number of different chargers and cables on the market, as well as conflicting tips on how long you should power up your device or what the optimum charging percentage actually is. Tech experts may still differ on some of these points, but by and large, it is widely accepted that these three iPhone charging tips can result in a longer lasting phone battery. And, the good news is: they are simple to start following today.

Use Apple or MFI-Certified Chargers

The reason why some chargers are made for Apple devices isn’t simply to get you to spend more money on Apple products. And using chargers that are cheaper but aren’t designed for Apple can cost you in the long run. “Using the charger made by Apple itself is the best charger you can ask for,” says Rajesh Namase, co-founder and professional tech blogger at TechRT. “The chargers that Apple made were specifically engineered to be compatible with their devices and to work optimally to replenish the juice of our iPhone. Further, there are guidelines on their website on which wattage is safe for your iPhone to use.”

Apple-made chargers can be expensive, which is why MFI-certified chargers are also advised to use, Namase stresses. “These are chargers (or phone accessories) that have undergone Apple certifications and once passed, the manufacturers are eligible and authorize to produce accessories that are compatible with Apple products, hence, “Made For iPhone/iPad/iPod” (MFI),” Namase says. You can check them on this site: https://mfi.apple.com/account/accessory-search

Use Breathable Cases or Remove Them

You have a choice whether to charge your phone in a breathable phone case or just remove the case altogether, but one thing you should never do is charge your device with a bulky case will attached to it. “What we want to avoid in charging is generating extreme heat,” Namase says. “This can be caused by charging your mobile while wearing a case. Removing the case of your iPhone can help reduce the risk of producing excessive heat which can damage the phone’s battery capacity.”

Charge Frequently

One common misconception people have is that it is bad to charge your iPhone multiple times, Namase says. But smaller, more frequent charging sessions are an excellent idea. “In fact, lithium-ion batteries love to be charged frequently in a small duration than to be replenished from 0 to 100 percent in one go,” Namase says. “It is best to make it a habit to start charging your iPhone at not less than 20% and stop when it reaches around 80%.”

A few good charging tips may be all you need to benefit from a faster, more efficient phone.
