Eating a healthy breakfast is an important component of sustainable weight loss as a good breakfast can set the tone for the rest of your day. However, with busy schedules, many people are forced to eat a quick breakfast and sometimes even take it on-the-go. Unfortunately, many of these fast breakfast options are labeled as healthy without the nutrition facts to back it up.

With that in mind, keep reading for the 4 “healthy” breakfasts you should stop eating ASAP!

Granola Bars

Granola bars are a popular on-the-go breakfast food, especially among people who want to eat healthy, but that's not entirely true. If you make your own granola bars, you're better off since you can control exactly what's going in them.

Dietician Katherine Tallmadge, author of Diet Simple: 195 Mental Tricks, Substitutions, Habits & Inspirations and president of the DC Metro Area Dietetic Association, spoke to the Washingtonian about granola bars: "They’re very high in calories for the amount you’re getting—you get a small amount of satisfaction for a large number of calories."

Muffins

Muffins might seem like a healthy option--especially the ones that have fruit. However, the truth is that they could be high in calories, fat, and sugar, which could lead to a big problem for your overall diet.

According to Food Network, store bought muffins often have around 400 calories.

Flavored Yogurt

Flavored yogurt might taste good, but it can be a real problem for your diet.

Flavored yogurt is packed with sugar, and according to Cleveland Health, some can even have 36 grams of sugar, which exceeds the American Heart Association's suggested daily limit for women is 25 grams.

Having so much sugar first thing in the morning can make you keep craving sweets throughout the day.

Bagels

Most people know that a bagel is not the healthiest breakfast option, but they might not know exactly why avoiding bagels is a good idea (especially if you have weight loss in mind).

According to Health, "Most bagels lack vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Without fiber, the carbohydrates in a bagel digest quickly, convert to sugar, and then, very possibly, to fat."
