4 Pre-Installed Apps To Delete For An Instantly Faster iPhone, Experts Say

If your iPhone is much (much) slower than you’re used to it being, the problem might just be that you’re using too many apps. The solution isn’t to delete every app you own, obviously, because apps make our phone user experience what it is. But there may be literally dozens of pre-installed apps on your phone that you never think about — that you aren’t even sure exist — and that could be contributing to a slower phone.

Just because an app comes pre-installed does not mean it needs to stay put on your device. Get your phone back on track and up to speed by deleting some of those pre-installed apps you never use — including these four apps.

Compass

Cool idea, but are you ever actually going to use the compass app on your phone? You’ll take advantage of Apple Maps, there’s no doubt, but the Compass app is a cute throw-in that hardly anyone uses. Feel free to delete it and save yourself a bit of storage space.

Stocks

If you have a need for the Stocks app, great. But if you’re like so many folks who get their iPhones and never take a second glance at the pre-installed Stocks app, do yourself a favor and delete it.

Maps

Now, before you argue that Apple Maps is an essential pre-installed app you’d never dream of parting ways with, we understand how important it is for so many users. But if you already have a map and direction app you like better, like Google Maps or Waze, you can delete Maps to save yourself storage space and battery power.

Voice Memos

I happen to be a big fan of Voice Memos and find this app to be indispensable when it comes to taking notes for me when I can’t physically type something out. But the app isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. If you have zero use for it, don’t think twice about deleting it to save space and battery.

The best part about trimming some pre-installed apps is that, if you change your mind, you can always re-install them.
