How badly do you just want your iPhone battery to hold a charge? Or to keep going so that you can download files and apps and do what you need to do on it without your phone dying?
If your iPhone battery causes you major headaches and you suspect some of the apps on your phone and the settings you have enabled could be at fault, there are ways to clean up your device so that you open up the channels for longer battery life. Start here: these are some easy ways to clean up your iPhone from battery-draining apps and settings.
Turn off Background App Refresh
Before you delete a single app, a few steps you can take include changing those settings that wear your battery down the fastest. One such setting is Background App Refresh, which is exactly what it sounds like: it makes sure your apps are completely refreshed with new content so that they deliver fresh posts to you the second you click on them. This takes up a lot of battery power, though, so you can disable it by going to Settings > General > Background App Refresh.
Location Services
Do all of your apps really need to have access to your location? Allowing them to do so is actually a battery strain — one that can be avoided. Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services and keep this on only for apps that truly need it (you can also opt to allow apps to access your location only while using them).
Push Mail
Turn off Push Mail and wait a few seconds for messages to load instead of having them readily available — you’ll save a lot of battery power this way and will only be inconvenienced momentarily. Go to Settings - Mail - Accounts - Fetch New Data.
Turn Down Your Phone’s Brightness Settings
One of the fastest ways to boost your battery power is by turning down your screen’s brightness and keeping it as dim as possible, ensuring it’s still comfortable for you. Swipe up to access your phone’s Control Center and then manually lower your brightness setting.
Turn Off Raise to Wake
There’s a really good chance that you don’t need your phone to light up and be ready to use the second you pick it up from any surface. Yet, if you have the Raise to Wake setting enabled, that’s exactly what will happen — and your battery will suffer because of it. Go to Settings > Display & Brightness > toggle off Raise to Wake
Delete Unnecessary Apps
Have a good look through your device. Are there any apps that you rarely or never use? Don’t even think about it: delete them. The fewer apps you have on your phone, especially ones that don’t serve much of a purpose, the better off your battery will be.
Update Apps and Software
Now that all of your unnecessary apps have been deleted, take care of the apps that you do have. Go to the App Store > Tap the account icon on the top right-hand corner > tap to Update All. It’s also really important to update your iPhone’s iOS whenever a new update becomes available. Not doing so can lead to bugs, a more sluggish device, and even battery drainage. Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
