If you’re worried about your iPhone battery dying before dinnertime, it’s time to take charge and do something about it. Your device should take you through the day (and maybe even beyond) but the apps that you use will have everything to do with it. Some apps will have virtually zero effect on your battery, while others can drain battery power the second you start using them. Arnas Vasiliauskas, Chief Innovation Product Officer of carvertical.com spoke with SHEFinds.com about the one app you need to delete today to save your iPhone battery — and it’s not Facebook this time.
The most notorious battery-draining apps on any list will likely include social media apps and streaming apps right at the top of the list. But there’s one sneaky set of apps that you may not be aware are killing your battery power because they are disguised as helpful tools: eCommerce apps.
“Screen shopping on programs like Amazon, Alibaba, Shein, etc. often takes a huge chunk of your screen time, even if you're not really buying anything,” Vasiliauskas says. “Same with Netflix, adding things that you don't really need in your cart is just as addicting. Moreover, these apps are sneaky battery drainers as they remain to be operating in the background even when you're done using screen shopping.”
If you can do away with eCommerce apps and simply buy from their websites on your browsers you will be saving yourself a ton of battery power.
And, speaking of Netflix, the streaming app is not off the hook.
“[Netflix] is one of the worst offenders in this area as it is an absolutely addicting app,” Vasiliauskas says. “Users just can't get enough of watching that even after a whole day of watching on their big screens and working on their laptops, people seem to manage to always sneak a peek at their favorite shows until it becomes a binge-watching session. In order to keep up with your demands, your device’s displays will remain on which, therefore, drains your battery life.”
And what about social media apps? Before you consider deleting Facebook, Vasiliauskas says there are two others worth considering: Snapchat and TikTok. “These two are as much guilty at draining your battery life as any other social media platform,” Vasiliauskas says. “First, because it takes a lot of time for people to find the right filter they like on Snapchat -- it takes even longer to get that one shot where you'll really look cute enough to add to your story. TikTok, on the other hand, hosts hundreds of thousands of video content that users may find useful and fun. These things are the perfect recipe for effective time-consuming programs that diminishes your battery life and storage with heavy usage.”
If your dwindling battery is a major concern, start by trimming out these apps or using them less often. You may be shocked at the battery-boosting results.
