All of those pre-installed apps on your iPhone are “nice to have’s,” but are they necessary? Not at all!

In fact, some of the apps you have lingering on your phone that you never use could be taking up needless amounts of storage space and battery. And while it’s true they aren’t the major driving forces when it comes to storage (it’s more fair to point fingers at Facebook and Instagram), they are contributing. More importantly: they aren’t giving you anything back in return if you’re not even using them.

Consider deleting these seven pre-installed apps to save space.

Find My iPhone

The Find My iPhone app is obviously a good one to have if you misplace your phone. But some privacy concerns associated with this app include that it shares your location data, which also affects battery power.

Podcasts

Are you using Podcasts to download and save episodes of podcasts that you want to listen to? If so, great — keep it. But if you’ve only used it a few times, it could be continuing to download episodes and taking up storage space — you may not even know it’s happening.

Health

When you use the Health app, it can accumulate and store sensitive, personal data about your health and it can be worrisome to think of it falling in the wrong hands. You can protect your privacy by deleting it.

Music

With so many apps offering services where you can listed to music (Spotify, YouTube), are you still using the pre-installed Music app? If it has been a dog’s age since you’ve opened it, you can remove it and save a little space.

Compass

Has anyone, ever, used the Compass app for anything other than as a novelty? Most people will be just fine removing this one.

Maps

Maps may not be a pre-installed app that you think about deleting because it’s one of the most helpful out there. But if already have a favorite maps app — Waze, maybe, or Google Maps — having yet another maps app is just redundant and takes up space.

Stocks

Are you using the Stocks app? If the answer is “no, never,” why keep it around? Delete it — you won’t miss it.
