If your goal is to keep your iPhone lasting for as many years as possible before having to replace it, the apps that you use (and don’t use) is an important consideration. Some apps are simply more taxing on your device and its battery. Knowing the app culprits is the first step toward then knowing which you should delete or, at the very least, use less often to keep your battery in good shape.
Tech Expert Richard Waters, founder and managing director of Row, spoke with SHEFinds.com about the five apps you should delete today because they cut your iPhone life in half.
If you can, Long says the best thing to do is avoid Facebook’s apps entirely, or try to create profiles that aren’t necessarily accurate for your person. “I wouldn’t post any pictures of yourself or your family, because once they’re out, they’re out,” Long says. “Those posts that were going around a few years ago telling Facebook that it doesn’t have permission to use your pictures is worth nothing.”
According to Long, this information is used to more effectively target you for ads based on this profile, or it’s sold on to third parties that can utilize this info as they wish. “Sadly, Facebook has their fingers in a million pies, so it’s almost impossible to avoid them,” Long says. “Facebook also owns super popular apps like Instagram and Whatsapp, so even if you don’t have Facebook, you’re still in their clutches.”
Battery boosting or RAM boosting apps
Waters calls these types of apps ineffective. “The notion is to keep your phone clean of unnecessary apps by forcing them to turn off in the background,” Waters says. “But what actually happens is that these apps keep running in the background to close other apps and are a big reason for battery draining issues.”
If you want to gain back battery power on your iPhone, start by deleting these five apps or limiting the amount of time spent on them.
