The Battery-Sucking Apps iPhone Experts Say You Should Delete Because They Slow Your Phone Down

When it comes to iPhone apps and knowing which ones to keep and which to delete, it usually comes down to this important question: is the app affecting my battery and slowing down my device?

Most apps are neutral in terms of their effect on your phone. The more you use them, the more they may run down your battery, but that’s the norm and not the exception with most apps. There are, however, certain apps that take up a greater deal of resources and, in turn, can reduce battery power and make your iPhone slow and laggy. The key here is to get rid of apps that are contributing to this slowdown — but first you’ll need to know which apps are the worst at this.

Here are four battery-sucking apps to consider deleting for a faster phone.

1. Social Media Apps

Social media apps like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok are among the biggest battery drainers. They are constantly loading new content and rely on big files like video, which consume storage space and battery on your device. Most people would prefer to have at least a few social media apps, but if you’re experiencing a slower phone, it’s a good idea to delete as many as you can live without.

2. Navigation Apps

Navigation apps like Waze and Google Maps require your location to operate — and this takes up battery power. Limit the number of navigation apps that you use and try not to run more than one at any given time.

3. Weather Apps

Your phone comes equipped with a pretty decent weather app. If you consider it too bare bones and have downloaded other weather apps, you may find that they take up a lot of resources and battery power. Sometimes the simpler option is the best one when it comes to your phone and its battery.

4. Games

Gaming apps are great for those times when you are bored and need something to help pass the time. A game that has intense graphics can take up a lot of storage and battery power, though. Keep high-graphic games like Fort Night to a minimum and, if you want a game to take up time, consider one that is simpler, like word games.
