For this reason, it's often used in dietary supplements. However, Richards warns that in high doses, this supplement can lead to adverse effects on your heart. "High doses of beta-carotene supplements have been associated with an increased risk of heart disease in some studies," Richards warns.

Richards warns that high doses of beta-carotene can lead to the following adverse effects on your heart health:
