Burger King released Spicy Chicken Fries earlier this spring, and while some customers may have raved about the menu item since its debut, others are continuing to share their more unpleasant experiences with the food, and Chicken Fries in general.
With some on Reddit threads discussing “stomach issues” after consuming them and others on Twitter feeling “let down” by the “hyped” menu addition, many are also wondering if it was discontinued as it recently “vanished” from stores across the country, according to some customers.

Burger King Customers Claim That Chicken Fries Are Linked To Indigestion
Back in late February 2023, Burger King launched Spicy Chicken Fries, which they described to be fried, breaded chicken strips with a “blend of spices that are sure to pack a punch,” as noted in a press release.

Ever since 2015 when it reinstated Chicken Fries as a menu staple, the fast food chain has experimented with other variations apart from the spicy ones, such as Buffalo Chicken Fries and Pretzel Chicken Fries.

Anyway, some Burger King fans have taken to Reddit within the past month to “warn” fellow customers about some displeasing affects of the fries after eating them. “They’re good when fresh,” one fan wrote about Chicken Fries in general. They added, “They used to be delicious but since they came back they haven’t been as good for a couple reasons. I swear the breading is different and of course they stopped using the tasty fatty oil.”

Another impassioned customer commented, “PSA: This is urgent. Do NOT eat the burger king chicken fries.” They went on, “Worse than taco bell. You will be acquainted with the bathroom. You have been warned. Not worth it.”
Someone on Twitter chimed in, writing about the chain’s new spicy version of the fries: “man these spicy chicken fries from Burger King was straight trash I was expecting Wendy’s spicy nuggets type s—t.”
And when Burger King announced the debut of their new fiery chicken nuggets earlier this month, some Reddit users had flashbacks. “Those spicy chicken fries gave me a case of the rumblies,” one wrote. Yikes.

Did BK Discontinue Its Spicy Chicken Fries?
Other customers on Twitter seemed to really like the chain’s new spicier Chicken Fries, with someone explaining that they couldn’t find them at their local BK restaurant this month: “@BurgerKing what gives? Why spicy chicken fries in the commercials but not at the restaurant???” Another agreed, writing, “@BurgerKing How is it seriously possible that a store literally never had the spicy chicken fries the entire time they were available!!??”
There were also BK fans who used memes to convey their thoughts, with someone tweeting, “Burger King discontinued their spicy chicken fries” with a gif of someone in distress. Another used a Batman cartoon video of the character looking sad, writing, “RIP BURGER KING SPICY CHICKEN FRIES….gone way too soon.”

According to Burger King, the Spicy Chicken Fries were originally intended to only be offered as a “limited-time offering,” available from March 6th through May 14th this year. Still, some fans were clearly surprised, with some noting they felt “blindsided” by its disappearance this month.

Burger King, as fans know, launched their first version of Chicken Fries 2005, but stopped offering them in 2012. A passionate, fan-driven campaign inspired the company to bring them back, and they returned through a limited run in 2014. Now, fans can continue to order them, just not the spicy ones, apparently.
