Meat Products Are Being Pulled From Walmart And Costco Stores Due To Potential Salmonella Contamination
March 3, 2024 by Faith Geiger
Bad news for charcuterie fans: Fratelli Beretta USA, based in Mount Olive, NJ, has issued a recall on ready-to-eat charcuterie products, the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) reports.
This recall is due to the fact that the charcuterie products contain Coppa that is potentially under processed, putting consumers at risk of salmonella. Learn more about the recall, including what to do if you’re in possession of one of the recalled products, below.
This recall includes all ready-to-eat (RTE) Coppa products that are labeled with an establishment number of EST. M47967 or M7543B. These products have various best-by dates and were shipped to distributors and retailers across the United States, including Costco, Sam’s Club, Aldi, and Walmart. The exact products and best-by dates can be found here.
FSIS notes that this recall is part of an investigation of a multistate Salmonella investigation. “FSIS collected unopened RTE Coppa product as part of the investigation, which tested positive for Salmonella, but that product was not released into commerce,” they wrote. “After further investigation, FSIS determined that the product subject to the recall may be under processed. Further testing is ongoing to determine if the product sample that tested positive for Salmonella is related to the outbreak.”
Another recall on charcuterie products—including Busseto products—due to potential Salmonella contamination was issued early this year.
