Searching for a few good hacks to help make your iPhone run longer? You really only need one — and it will help make your charging sessions more productive while prolonging the life of your battery.
Optimized Battery Charging is the key iPhone setting to familiarize yourself with because it has the power to help preserve your battery health and help your phone perform well for a longer period of time. Other charging best practices that you should always follow include not allowing your phone to fall to zero percent before charging it, using Apple-certified charging cables that are designed for your phone and its specific model, and always charging your phone in room-temperature settings because extreme temps are dangerous for your phone.
Here’s why you should add one more step to your phone maintenance routine: enable Optimized Battery Charging for a more efficient phone.
What is Optimized Battery Charging?
Optimized Battery Charging is a convenient phone setting that learns your charging routine and pauses before it finishes charging your iPhone to 100 percent until just before you release it from its charger. This setting will, for example, learn that you typically charge your phone from 9 pm until 6 am. It will charge your phone so that it gets to 80 percent and then stall charging it fully to 100 percent until right before 6 am. When your phone stays charged at 100 percent for long periods of time, this contributes to battery degradation. The less time it spends at 100 percent, the better for your phone — hence, why this setting is such gold.

How To Enable Optimized Battery Charging
To enable Optimized Battery Charging, go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health & Charging > toggle on Optimized Battery Charging.
