Costco shoppers just noticed that the wholesale club will be discontinuing 24 items this fall. Say it ain’t so! Yes, that’s right, some of your favorite warehouse goods may be gone from shelves next time you patron the club–and we know all of this thanks to Instagram sleuths who stalk the store’s shelves for signs of a discontinuation marker called a “death star” combined with a $0.97 price tag. Whoa, that’s a little intense–but thank God for the internet!
Dedicated Costco Instagram accounts such as @Costco_doesitagain and @costco.love spotted the so-called “death star” the small star on the upper right-hand corner of certain products’ labels with the accompanying kiss of death $0.97 price tag, on a whopping 24 items recently. Costco insiders know that this combination means that a product is on clearance and about about to be pulled from stores. Most items in the store are priced to $0.99, so when you see a “7” on that label, it can only mean bad things. Wow–you learn something everyday. Not only did we learn that there is a social media sub-culture for Costco stalking, but that you can spot when your fav items are on the verge of discontinuation. We don’t know whether to be excited or scared. (At least you’ll know when you need to stock up out of fear that something will be gone forever next time you return to the store!).

Sadly, the products affected include both Costco’s owned Kirkland brand, as well as other popular brands such as Kevin’s Naturals and sweet treats like peanut butter cups and coconut mini bars. What the heck!
Discontinued Items For Fall
Insta accounts recently spotted evidence that these items won’t be in Costco stores for long: Kevin’s Natural Foods Thai Curry Cauliflower, Hawaiian coffee, Bark Thins Dark Chocolate Almond, Kirkland Signature Funhouse Treats, Unreal Dark Chocolate Coconut Coconut Mini Bars, Bark Thins Dark Chocolate Clusters, Skinny Dipped Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups, Brookside Strawberry and Passion Fruit, Tea Drops Organic Variety Pack.
On the home goods side of things, a Reddit user identifying themselves as a Costco member claimed to have seen the dreaded asterisk and or price ending in $0.97 on the following products: Conair Infiniti Pro Hair Dryer, Anchor Hooking 1-Quart Canning Jars, Taylor Digital Glass Scale, Oxo Softworks Salad Spinner, Oxo Softworks On-The-Go Food Storage Container Set, Champion Catalyst Backpack, Bellevue Luxury Soy Blend Candles. Take my eyes, but not my Conair blow dryer!
