Costco recently alerted customers about issues with two items sold in their stores, which the company will provide refunds for: 1-gallon jugs of Saffola Safflower Oil and Kirkland Signature 3lb Local Honey.
While some stores may leave consumers to their own devices when it comes to staying in the know about which products have been recalled and pulled from shelves, Costco was able to alert members who had previously bought these items thanks to their detailed tracking system. Luckily, neither of these items are dangerous. However, their packaging contains incorrect information that may influence customer satisfaction. Find all of the info below!
Saffola Safflower Oil
The U.S. Food And Drug Administration recently issued a market withdrawal of Saffola Safflower oil, which is sold in Costco stores. Although this product was marketed as 100% Safflower Oil, the FDA notes that it is actually a blend of Safflower oil and other plant-based oils.
Ventura Foods, LLC sent out a letter to Costco shoppers who bought the item on August 18 to let them know about the issue. The warehouse store says that unsatisfied customers can return the item for a full refund.
Kirkland Signature Local Honey
If you bought Costco's 3lb Local Honey between January 2019 and August 2022, you are also eligible for a refund on this withdrawn product due to a labeling issue. Luckily, just as with the Saffola oil, no one's health is at risk. However, Costco noted in an alert to members who bought this item that it may contain non-local honey.
This product was sold in Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Louisiana, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, and Washington. If you live in one of these states and are unhappy with the fact that the honey may not be completely local, you can return it for a full refund.
