Costco is one of the most iconic and nifty big box retailers to shop at, and their stores carry a wide variety of products that shoppers rave about online. As reported by Eat This, Not That! some of our favorite Costco items simply cannot last forever, and the warehouses use a method that many customers have deemed the “death star.”
When an item is about to be discontinued, the publication notes that shoppers may find a “small asterisk in the top right-hand corner of its price tag.” This ultimately signals that the item will not be restocked once sold out. Popular YouTube channel Gina’s Shopping Life (which often covers Costco-related information and savings deals) just uploaded a round-up of Costco items that contain the star, and that will soon unfortunately be absent from shelves:
Condiments and Breakfast Cereals:
In the YouTuber’s video, the content creator explained that the following products were marked with the dreaded star:
- Log Cabin Original Syrup (which used to be sold in packs of two 64-ounce jugs) and is now discounted to $7.49 each while supplies last
- Hershey’s Simply 5 Syrup (similarly and formerly sold in packs of two), and remaining packs are $10.69
- Carapelli Unfiltered Organic EV Olive Oil
- Big Tree Farm Organic Coco Aminos Teriyaki Sauce & Marinade
- Kellogg’s Frosted Mini Wheats (Gina’s video showed 70-ounce boxes that include two bags of the cereal), sold for $8.99
Beverages:
- Kohana Organic Coffee Cold Brew Concentrate
- Kirkland Signature Strawberry Margarita made with Gold Tequila
