Attention Costco customers! Fans are reacting to the announcement that the popular Kirkland Signature Butter Croissants are being pulled from shelves. This beloved bakery item, usually available all year, has recently been identified as the latest Costco product facing possible contamination from external substances. In a notice dated November 9th, Costco management informed members of the wholesale retailer about a recall of the croissants due to possible contamination with “foreign materials.”
To ease the surprise of discovering tainted food, Costco is promptly taking butter croissants off bakery shelves across the country and providing refunds to those who bought them. As anticipated, news of the recall has rapidly circulated online, with customers flocking to Reddit to share that butter croissants have completely vanished.

As reported by Parade, one Reddit user who didn't initially know about the recall wrote: "My local Costco did not have croissants yesterday or today. When I asked I was told no croissants till further notice. No explanation. Weird."
In the thread below, shared earlier last month, another added: "Brooklyn Costco was apparently out today. I was shocked they pretty much always have them."

While many were equally unsure about the situation as the person who started the thread on Reddit, one user stepped in to provide some possible insight. "It's part of the salt recall. Apparently a salt supplier had some metal shavings in their salt, so a lot of Costco products are on hold until they get new supply," they wrote.
They further mentioned that problems with Canadian salt might also be affecting the U.S. market, referencing an article on the subject during their discussion.
The recall concerns 12-pack butter croissants with sell-by dates from September 8th to November 10th, 2024.
No health problems have been reported so far, and Costco advises customers with questions to call (800) 955-2292 between 5 a.m. and 8 p.m. PT, Monday through Friday.
Additionally, customers can receive a full refund by returning the croissants to their nearest warehouse.
