The delta variant surge of the novel coronavirus outbreak is causing delays and roll-backs to a return to normal life. Case in point: just a few weeks after Costco announced that they would be changing their Senior Hours Covid-19 store policy, the Washington-based warehouse chain was forced to reverse their stance.
ICYMI: Costco announced early in July that it would soon be ending the special shopping hours designated for members over 60 and other immunocompromised groups. Unfortunately, the nation has seen a surge in cases thanks to the contagious Delta variant, and the warehouse club was forced to go back on the store hours.
The more contagious strain of the coronavirus is now responsible for more than 80% of COVID-19 cases in the country, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports.
In an update posted to its website, the chain revealed that the first hour of the day two days per week would continue to be designated for those shoppers who are at an increased risk of infection of the virus.
“Costco warehouses in the U.S. and Puerto Rico will be open for Special Operating Hours Tuesday and Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m.,” the policy page reveals. The pandemic continues!
