Is your phone taking a dog’s age to do just about anything? If you’re experiencing a sluggish lag anytime you try to load websites, download an app, or send through a text, the problem could actually be some of the default settings on your device that are taking up tons more resources than you might suspect. Tech Expert CJ Xia at Boster Biological Technology outlines three default settings that are slowing your iPhone. Fixing these issues today could lead to a faster, more efficient device in just minutes.
Outdated Software
it’s important to keep an eye on software updates that become available and to upgrade your software when possible. Doing so helps prevent hackers from gaining access to your data, and it also helps clear up any previous bugs that were messing with your user experience. But there’s more: outdated software can also slow your phone down. “The software on your iPhone may be out of date if it is performing slowly,” Xia says. “First, see whether there are any software upgrades available before concluding that your phone’s slow performance is the result of a software problem. Here are the measures you should take to achieve your goal. Go to Settings > General. On the General tab, tap on Software Updates.”
Apps Running in the Background
Are you aware of the possibility that your phone could have a number of apps running in the background and that this could be wearing down its battery power? “The advantages of keeping apps open in the background include faster access in case you require them and a shorter path back to the page you were on before switching apps,” Xia says. “You can leave your iPhone apps open without worrying about their power use. On the other hand, if an app has a glitch or gets caught in a loop, it may continue to run in the background, using battery life and slowing down your iPhone. Stopping all of the apps on your iPhone is the only solution.”
Head over to Settings > Apps and force quit the apps in question.
Degraded/Low Battery Health
This one may seems obvious: low battery health reduces the iPhone’s capabilities. The culprit could be the battery itself — and it may be time to just throw in the towel and replace it. But the solution to this problem could also cost not a cent: change the way you charge your phone. Instead of charging your device overnight or for long periods of time in one sitting, aim to keep it charged between 30 and 80 percent. One simple way to accomplish this is by giving your phone periodic busts of charging throughout the day so that you never over or undercharge it.
You don’t have to take major steps to help speed up your device. A few changes and tech habits can make a significant difference.
