Stomach bloat is one of the most frustrating reactions your body can have because there is not always a clear cause for the discomfort, nor is there necessarily a simple solution to get rid of it. While your bloating can stem from overeating, a food intolerance, or a hormonal imbalance, there are options to explore which may ease your distended stomach regardless of the cause. During the cold winter months, these are the best detox soup recipes that experts recommend to banish the bloat once and for all.

According to registered dietitian Jasmine Carbon, foods which are high in fermentable carbohydrates and sugars are often the cause of bloating. To ensure that your detox soup will not make matters worse, she suggests steering clear of beans, onion, garlic and broccoli, among other veggies which will agitate the gut with their high content of fermentable sugars.
