It’s widely recognized that the cost of fast food keeps climbing, driven by factors such as rising labor expenses, higher ingredient costs, substantial profit margins, and increased markups. Recently, Dunkin’ patrons have turned to Reddit to voice their complaints and express their discontent with the chain’s latest pricing.

One individual initiated a new discussion (below), mentioning that a large iced coffee and a sandwich now cost them nearly $10, whereas the same order would have been approximately $5.50 two or three years ago. Other users joined the conversation to share their perspectives.

The original poster captioned their upload: “6 dollar meal deal. If I just want a large iced and a sandwich, it’s almost $10. I don’t want hash browns and a medium coffee. It just doesn’t make sense. I understand inflation, two or three years ago my large iced and sandwich was like $5.50. This is insane though.”

Dunkin’ Customers Express Their Frustration With ‘Gouging Prices’ On Reddit And Compare Meal Deal Costs

One user commented beneath it: “i miss there being better deals and offers on the app. i used to love the $2 happy hour iced coffee, and there used to be a discounted coffee drink in the offers. now it’s always something i don’t want!” Another added: “Dunkin is so expensive if you just want coffee. I’ve been going to McDonalds and adding an espresso shot. It’s $2.88 and shot for a large. That’s be $8 at Dunkin.”

An additional commenter chimed in: “i feel you </3 especially on my college campus in the city, the price for a medium iced coffee (no dairy even) and a sandwich costs me almost $12 ! it’s insane and frustrating.” Someone else replied: “It’s because in 2020 they were acquired by larger food and bev entity which is private equity backed so they are gouging the prices in order to maximize profit and returns for investors.”

Others debated that a “meal deal” actually means at the chain. “The point of a deal is that you’re constrained by the order. People who are more price sensitive are willing to change or slightly modify their order in order to get the discount. Also, these deals are targeted more towards people who rarely go to Dunkin at all. If you’re spending $10 every day, there’s no point why they would offer it to you for $6,” one commented. Another noted: “That’s why it’s called a DEAL.”
