5 Fast Food Ordering Mistakes You Need To Stop Making Immediately, According To A Health Expert

Joey Thurman, CES, CPT, FNS, is a celebrity health and wellness expert and founding trainer with Kuudose. Here are his tips for healthier fast food ordering:

Getting The Extras

“There is no need to have the fries, sweet, sides, and soda,” Joey explains. “An average soda has around 12 teaspoons of sugar, and that’s not the super size!”

Eating The Bun

Where possible, ask for your burgers and sandwiches to be wrapped in lettuce. “Try to get rid of the processed white flour bun and add lettuce for a cleaner version of the burger,” he says.

Dressing Your Salad

Fast food salad are *mostly* healthy (except for Burger King’s)… until you get to the dressing, that is. “Do NOT use their salad dressing, make your own at home or even use apple sauce as a dressing,” he offers.

Ordering The Works

Less is more when it comes to burger toppers. “Skip the ketchup, cheese, and bacon as well if you are watching your calories,” Joey suggests.

Having It ‘Fried’

Many menus now offer broiled, grilled, oven roasted meat options. Eat yours literally any other way than fried. “Don’t do anything fried, if it’s fish and it’s fried doesn’t mean it’s healthy, that’s like making breaded and fried asparagus…pointless,” he warns. So true!

Try to fast before your fast food and allow your body to be a little more insulin sensitive to limit that sugar spike.”
