In an engaging and enlightening Instagram video, fitness coach and social media influencer Samantha Milton, known for her transparency with her 910K followers about her 250-pound weight loss journey, revealed her top two Dunkin’ orders for those following a calorie deficit plan.

A calorie deficit occurrs when you eat fewer calories than your body requires to keep its current weight. By achieving this deficit, either by adjusting your diet or increasing physical activity, your body begins to use stored fat for energy, resulting in lasting weight loss.

Her recommendations are the Iced Spiced Cookie Coffee and the Almond Croissant. She firstly noted that the Spiced Cookie Coffee was the “best Dunkin’ coffee” she ever had and couldn’t believe it was “only 130 calories.”

2 Low-Calorie Dunkin' Orders For A Calorie Deficit, According To A Fitness Coach

1. Iced Spiced Cookie Coffee

The Spiced Cookie Coffee, as described on Dunkin's official website, can be enjoyed either hot or cold. It boasts hints of brown sugar and vanilla, complemented by smooth oat milk. This festive beverage has garnered enthusiastic praise from fans on social media.

Additionally, Milton points out that it is a lower-calorie alternative compared to other high-calorie selections at the chain. Milton rated it a "9.5 out of 10." She added: "This is the best drink I've ever got from Dunkin.'"

2. Almond Croissant

The second item that Milton praised was the almond croissant, which she noted had the "perfect level of sweetness to savory/ buttery ratio." She added in her November 26th caption: "It is 330 calories" and that she would eat it "again."

Many of Milton's followers concurred with her review of the treat. "I agree the almond croissant is SOOO good," one commented, adding: "Def one of the best pastries Dunkin has ever had." Someone else noted: "The croissant is filled with marzipan, which is what makes it almond."

The Bottom Line

Other commenters praised Milton's video for promoting "intuitive eating" and not encouraging any drastic or unhealthy diets without room for indulges and treats.

As Trista Best, MPH, RD, LD, registered dietitian at Balance One Supplements tells SheFinds, intuitive eating can be great to practice if you're thinking of undergoing a calorie deficit plan or have weight loss goals.

"Mindful eating, also known as intuitive eating, may be a necessary practice to integrate into your eating habits," Best says. Stalled weight loss, she points out, could be "a result of eating when you're not physically hungry, eating past your hunger, or any of the other principles that mindful (intuitive) eating shares."

Mindful eating revolves around eating when you are truly hungry, Best says, and keeping track of this can help you understand your own metabolism, hunger cues, etc.

Overall, adopting a nutritious diet is essential for both shedding pounds and maintaining a healthy weight.

This involves making thoughtful decisions about your food intake, but it doesn’t mean you have to completely forgo your beloved Dunkin' indulgences.
