We all have those moments when your sweet tooth is screaming for TLC. Chocolate, candy, pastries… anything to satisfy the need for something sugary and delicious. That’s why it’s best to be prepared when those cravings kick in. Believe it or not, you can still give in to your body’s desire for something sweet without completely abandoning your healthy eating goals. There are lots of tasty options that don’t have all the calories and sugar of traditional desserts. Here are four to try the next time you’re in the mood for something sweet.
Chocolate Covered Strawberries
When you want something chocolate-y and sweet, go for chocolate covered strawberries. Simply melt semi-sweet chocolate chips and dip the strawberries. Then lay them out on a wax paper covered cookie sheet and set aside until the chocolate hardens.
Cinnamon Apple Yogurt
This easy and delicious treat will give you the flavors of apple pie without the calories. Take a serving of Greek yogurt and add honey, vanilla, cinnamon and one apple chopped up and you are all set!
Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Popcorn
When you want something sweet and salty, you're not out of luck. Dark chocolate sea salt popcorn is the way to go. In a microwave-safe bowl, mix 4 oz of dark chocolate and 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt and melt. Then, pour the mix over the popcorn and top with some more sea salt. Let sit for about an hour or until the chocolate has hardened and you will have a great snack ready to go!
Fruit Sorbet
Sorbet is a great alternative to ice cream and it's easy to make. In a blender, add frozen raspberries, agave syrup and a splash of lemon juice. Let the mix freeze for a little bit and that's it!
