Many members appreciate Costco for its ability to provide high-quality items at much lower costs, thanks to its bulk purchasing system where products are sold in larger amounts, leading to significant savings per unit. The membership-only access adds an element of exclusivity and fosters customer loyalty.
Additionally, Costco is well–regarded for its generous return policy and commendable customer service. The store also offers a wide range of healthy food options. However, a naturopathic doctor recently highlighted three foods at Costco that may seem nutritious but are not, aiming to help you make more informed decisions on your next visit to the wholesale store.

A Naturopathic Doctor Reveals 3 'Healthy' Costco Foods That May Not Be as Good for You as You Think
1. Kirkland Rotisserie Chicken
In his recent TikTok video, naturopathic doctor and content creator Brent Dyson (@brentdysonwellness revealed that Costco's rotisserie chicken can be considered a "toxin bomb."
These chicken breasts, he noted, "appear healthy because you think you're eating lean meat," but the "truth" is that the "heat from the chicken is causing harmful toxins from the plastic to leech into the food."
According to Dyson, consuming this food will introduce BPA and phthalates, which are harmful toxins and hormone disruptors, into your system.

2. Atlantic Salmon Fillets
As pointed out by the doctor, Costco members should steer clear of these Atlantic salmon fillets, which appear healthy but contain concealed risks.
"The problem is they're farmed," Dyson said in the clip, adding that "because farm fish are raised in these pools, they are filled with viruses and disease and parasites."
He went on to stress that they can also be a "high source of toxins including PCBs," so it's best to "stick to wild-caught" fish choices at Costco, only.

3. Lenny & Larry's Soft-Baked Protein Cookies
If you're looking for a healthy dessert, Dyson noted that these cookies might be better left on the shelf. "They appear healthy on the surface with all these labels of protein and plant-based, but they're actually not," he said. The doctor added that "when you look closely, they're made with wheat flour, highly inflammatory palm fruit oil, and absolute garbage cane sugar." He stressed that these cookies are "definitely not a healthy alternative" when it comes to desserts.
