Many Apple users make the mistake of thinking that iCloud is the only — and the best — storage system possible. So we free up as much storage space as possible from our devices by moving everything over to iCloud. And then the inevitable happens: iCloud gets filled up and we have to pay for even more iCloud storage to keep being able to store files. Can you see where this is headed? Before you know it, your money is going toward storage solutions, and it didn’t have to be this way to begin with — because another, better, option exists, according to many users and experts.
@niamh.mannion_ Upload all your photos and videos to google photos and you can open up storage on your phone 🫠 Am i the only one that didn’t know this?? #socialmediamarketing #contentcreator #googlephotos #iphonestorage
Enter Google Photos. Here why one tech enthusiast says iCloud is “useless” and Google Photos is better for storage.
iCloud Wastes Storage
According to Niamh Mannion, who was using iCloud to store her photos and videos, she was rapidly running out of storage on the cloud system and was left without options. Mannion says she was paying 10 Euro for iCloud storage, when in fact, Google Photos was just 90 cents for 100 gigabytes.
Whereas iCloud only works for Apple devices, Google Photos works on both iOS and Android. iCloud offers 5 GB of free storage, but this is shared across all Apple services, while Google Drive storage gives you 15 GB of free storage for high-quality photos but it counts towards your Google Drive storage.
The decision to choose iCloud, Google Photos, or both for your storage is largely a personal one. But it helps to know that you have more options than just iCloud.
