Is there anything more anxiety-causing than thinking about your phone being tracked? Unfortunately, that’s the reality of having an iPhone these days. Hackers have become more sophisticated in their abilities to infiltrate devices and you could go weeks or even months before you realize it’s happening. In the meantime, someone can gain access to your data and files. But you can fight back. The more you know about the signs that your phone is being tracked, the better equipped you’ll be to combat the problem, take action, and keep hackers out of your personal business. Tech Expert Calvin Willis here at the software site moosoft.com, tells SHEFinds.com how to tell if your iPhone is being tracked — and what to do if you suspect it is.
Static, beeps, clicking sounds etc while on a call
A weak connection can sometimes cause noise in the background, but if you hear these sounds every time you’re on a call, it’s possible that your iPhone is being tracked and calls are being recorded, Willis says.
Your battery doesn’t last like it used to
“Of course, with time your battery will not last as long as it used to,” Willis says. “But if you’re suddenly noticing a massive drain of your phone’s power for no good reason, someone may have installed spy software on your iPhone.”
Apps and files are present on your iPhone that you don’t remember installing
Finding files and apps on your phone that you didn’t install? “This is a good indicator of malicious software that is tracking your device and monitoring your activity,” Willis says.
What to do if someone is tracking your phone
So, if you suspect that someone is tracking your iPhone, what can you do about it?
“Firstly, you are going to need good anti-spyware that will stop this from happening again,” Willis says. “That said, you may also want to do something about what’s already happening on your phone.”
Upgrade your iOS Version
“The spy software on your phone they are using to track you may be incompatible with a newer, higher version,” Willis says.
Uninstall any suspicious looking apps, files or messages
“If you are still concerned that your phone is being hacked and tracked, you may need to take more drastic action with a factory reset,” Willis says. “Only take this step if everything else fails. Ensure that all your important data is backed up before you do this. Go into your settings and select iCloud, then select Backup. And with iCloud Backup turned on, hit Back Up Now. Once you’ve done a backup of your data, go to general settings, look for Reset and select Erase all contents and settings. You may be prompted for your passcode at this time. Then hit Erase iPhone.”
It’s always disconcerting thinking about someone tracking your device and having access to your most private files and phone info. But with a little knowledge and quick reactions you can mitigate the damage.
