Labor Day brings the ceremonial end of summer—but, to help soothe the burn of a season of sun gone by, it also brings a ton of sales across the mall (and the internet) from big-name retailers.
A favorite Labor Day sale of ours is always the Madewell Labor Day Sale, which usually offers big savings across their wares with either sitewide discounts or super-lucrative promo codes. We’ve gathered all the info available on the ‘net now to help guide your Madewell shopping journey this Labor Day weekend.

When Will The Madewell Labor Day Sale Start In 2023?
This year, the sale is expected to run through the Labor Day long weekend at the very least, from Friday September 1st to Monday September 4th (Labor Day). However, it could extend extra days on either side, as last year's sale lasted about a week starting in late August. Madewell's Labor Day sale also typically extends to the Tuesday after Labor Day, as well. The sale should be available in-store during regular store hours, which are generally 10 AM - 8 PM at Madewell depending on location, and they will be open on Labor Day.
In 2022, the retailer commenced their Labor Day sale on August 29th with the event lasting through September 6th, or while supplies lasted for certain items.
For comparison, Madewell's 2023 Memorial Day Sale earlier this summer offered a flash sale plus 30% off your total purchase with code WARMUP at checkout.
What Was Madewell's 2022 Labor Day Sale Like?
Several great offers were included in Madewell's 2022 Labor Day Sale. The biggest deal we saw in 2022 that may be carried over to 2023 was an additional 40% off sale items. Last year, this was obtained with code LONGWEEKEND from 8/26 - 9/6.
For further reference, during the 2021 Madewell Labor Day Sale, the savings event lasted from September 2nd to September 6th, and included major discounts and an additional 30% off sale styles with discount code CHEERS.
At the 2020 Madewell Labor Day Sale, prices were slashed up to 50% off sitewide and storewide through Labor Day weekend on items like sweaters, outerwear, and the brand's classic denim pieces. Some fall-favorite items were scored for 20% - 40% off with code HIFALL.
What Is The Madewell Insider Loyalty Program?
There are a few ways to score additional benefits when it comes to shopping at Macy's. The biggest is to sign up for Madewell's Insider loyalty program, which offers "perks on perks" with points back on every purchase, free shipping, birthday gifts, and more. It's free to join, so we definitely recommend you do to make the most bang out of every buck!

- $1 = 1 point. You get points back every time you shop at Madewell with the Insider program, including 2x the points when you buy jeans.
- Track your points. It's easy when you login to your account—there you'll see an up-to-date figure of all the points you've racked up so far!
- 250 points = reward. For every 250 points you earn by shopping at Madewell, you'll score $10 to use toward your next purchase. The more points you earn, the more rewards you get—simple!
- Earn points in creative ways. It's not just about shopping: you can rack up Insider points by completing your profile and adding your birthday (50 points), attending a stylist appointment (250 points—an easy $10 reward!), or writing a product review (10 points for each one you submit.)
- Free shipping. Pretty self explanatory. You'll get free shipping for all orders, all the time; returns are free, too.
- Other big benefits. Birthday gifts when you add your b-day to your profile, early access to new products, exclusive collabs, and seasonal lookbooks, and free personalization (stamping and embroidery) on all leather and denim items.
What Are The Tiers Of The Madewell Loyalty Program?
The Insider program is free to join, but the more you spend at Madewell, the higher you'll rise in the rewards program and the more you'll earn for your loyalty. Spend $500+ and you'll be elevated to the Madewell Star tier, which snags you all the benefits included at the Insider tier, plus free expedited shipping (Insider shipping is standard), triple point days, a dedicated concierge phone line, and an annual collectible tote with purchase. Spend $1000+ and you'll make it to the venerated Icon tier, which includes everything at the Star tier as well as an exclusive tier celebration gift!
Tips For Shopping The Madewell Labor Day Sale
You can save even more money with a few savvy tips for the Labor Day Sale:
- Join the Insider program! If we haven't convinced you by now with all those sweet benefits, you're probably un-convince-able.
- Watch for bonus savings. Sometimes the retailer offers sitewide discounts, while other years the savings have come with a promo code—keep an eye out for which it'll be this Labor Day!
