New McDonald's Grandma McFlurry
On May 21st, you can visit your local McDonald's and order a Grandma McFlurry, for a limited time only. This treat mixes syrup, vanilla ice cream, and crunchy candy pieces, which the restaurant has joked is "like grandma's favorite treat that she hid in her purse."
While McDonald's hasn't announced what exactly these candy pieces are, customers and fans are guessing it's butterscotch, not unlike those golden Werther's Original candies that grandparents always seem to have on hand.
Tariq Hassan, chief marketing and customer experience officer for the chain released a statement about the drop, saying, "Grandmas have always held a special place in our hearts, and today they’re having a major moment influencing culture — inspiring trends in fashion, decor and now, even food with our newest McFlurry."
Customers Are Skeptical Of The New Grandma McFlurry
In a Reddit thread announcing the new flavor, customers are predicting that the new Grandma McFlurry flavor is going to be a flop, especially with the minimal description of what it's actually going to taste like. "Insanely vague description of the actual flavor," one person wrote. Luckily, other users had some ideas:
"Is it mixed with Werther's caramel flavored hard candies?" one person asked.
"Turpentine and moth balls?" another suggested.
"Does it taste like potpourri?" asked a third.
"Strawberry bon bons?" said another.
Hopefully, once the reviews are in, customers will have more positive thoughts, because right now, it's a resounding, "No one asked for this!"
