The online network premiered the thriller last Thursday, and since then the show has picked up a lot of steam online, where new fans have taken to social media to rave about the “brilliant,” “dope” new TV offering. Initially somewhat critically panned, the show has become popular among watchers, who are encouraging others to discover the show for themselves.

Who is Erin Carter? stars Evin Ahmad as Erin Carter, a woman who moves with her family to Barcelona, Spain, to reinvent herself as a teacher. After being present at a robbery, one of the thieves says they recognize Erin, which could threaten her chances of a fresh start. The thriller aspects of the series unfold as Erin tries to outrun the consequences of her secret past life.
After its debut, Who is Erin Carter? reached the number 1 spot on Netflix's English-language chart, pushing the recent release Depp vs. Heard down to the number 2 spot. The streamer reported the series logged 13.2 million views on the app between August 21st and August 27th. The show also stars Sean Teale as Erin's husband Jordi, Indica Watson as her daughter Harper, Susannah Fielding as Olivia, who works at Erin's school, and Denise Gough as Lena Campbell, a mysterious woman from Erin's shady past. Creators Rob Bullock and Jack Lothian have stated they envisioned Erin Carter as a 7-episode limited series, but after its extraordinary success, who knows if the story will be extended into a season 2.

Though the show earned a 57% critical score on Rotten Tomatoes, streaming numbers were clearly healthy, and fans have been going on social media to share their feelings about the show and encouragement for others to give it a watch. "Started Who is Erin Carter? On Netflix and couldn’t leave my laptop till I finished it. It was brilliant!" gushed one Twitter/X user. A responder agreed, "I concur. A roller coaster." Another similarly enthused, "Who is erin carter on netflix definitely 10/10. An additional fan added, "Who Is Erin Carter? on Netflix was fire. I know what I’ma be doing all day."

Who is Erin Carter? is actually pretty great tv and if there’s not a season 2 I’ll be incredibly disappointed but as a limited series it did a great job on its own. 5 stars.

Responding to calls for an additional season of the show, actor Sean Teale told the Daily Express, "Me and Jack [Lothian] were talking, and there are moments towards the end of the series where Jordi’s profession as a nurse is of value...It would be interesting to see how his skills could be utilized in the future. Whether he can cope with it all, how he rationalizes it. If it’s worth it or just whether he’s capable of it." Teale concluded, "He has got some deep existential questions that need answering," possibly giving hope that there is some story to tackle should Erin Carter be renewed.
