There are many things you may hope to get out of a protein bar—from energy to take on your workout to nutrients that can help strengthen your muscles—but hair nets are not typically one of them. That’s why Doctors Scientific Organica has issued a voluntary recall on their Burn Boot Camp Afterburn Grass-Fed Whey Protein Bars (60 grams) Triple Chocolate Almond flavor products.

The company’s 60-gram Triple Chocolate Almond bars, which were sold across the country, are being pulled from shelves immediately after consumers found foreign objects in the products. Find all the details below.

Burn Boot Camp Afterburn Grass-Fed Whey Protein Bars Recalled

Some customers who recently unwrapped Burn Boot Camp Afterburn Triple Chocolate Almond protein bars got a rude awakening. As the U.S. Food and Drug Administration noted in an announcement, these bars have been recalled for the "potential presence of foreign material, including disposable hairnet, shrink wrap and parchment paper." Yikes!

"Foodborne foreign objects that are flexible and not sharp may cause minor injuries such as transient choking or gastrointestinal system injury," the FDA states.

The recalled products were sold at Burn Bootcamp retail locations and through the Burn Bootcamp website. Luckily, only one flavor of the bars, Triple Chocolate Almond, has been affected.

The recall pertains to products with lot number 181, 184, and 187, which can be found on the back of the foil of each bar or on the bottom of each cardboard case. If you are in possession of a bar with this lot number, the company urges you not to consume the product. Rather, you should either dispose of it or return it to the point of purchase for a full refund.

No illnesses or injuries have been reported. However, taking recalls like this seriously is an important part of ensuring the health and safety of you and your family. SheFinds is dedicated to reporting on the latest product recalls in order to help readers stay in-the-know.

Other recent food recalls include fresh-cut fruit at Trader Joe's and Wilcox Ice Cream.
