Don’t Drain Your iPhone Battery

It’s tempting to drain your battery down to zero when you’re running around all day doing other things, but your iPhone functions the best when it’s set within a specific charging range.

“Our lithium-ion batteries (Li-ion) are designed to work best between 30% and 80% of the time,” says Sasha Quail,  Business Development Manager of Claims UK.  “As a result, both overloading and running out of batteries can be detrimental. Allow it to happen no more than once a month.”

Keeping your device within a good range may require that you change up your charging habits. Instead of waiting until the very end of the day and giving your device one big boost, a better plan could be to provide it with short charging spurts throughout the day so that it stays within 30 to 80 percent.

And while you are charging your phone, keep in mind that the cute protective case you wisely purchased to keep your device from getting banged up isn’t doing its battery any favors when you plug it in for a charge.

“You'll see it if you grab the phone: charging it heats it,” Quail says. “That's perfectly natural and unimportant. The heat won't dissipate when your phone is trapped in its casing, which is dangerous. Although it's plugged in, you should definitely unplug it.”
