Some of the apps on your phone are responsible for hogging most of your storage — it’s a fact of life that you may need to deal with if you’re tired of running out of space and want to get a better handle on this. When you’re low on storage space, your phone goes from being a fantastic tool to have for work, fun, and keeping up with life’s responsibilities to a burden. You have to hurry up and find ways to gain back space so that your phone can be used in the same way again. If you’re interested in taking videos and photos, downloading files, and downloading new apps, deleting certain old apps that are dragging down your phone’s storage capabilities becomes a necessity.

Here’s how to keep this from becoming a giant chore: consider deleting four of the most common storage-hogging apps. This act alone can make a huge difference in your phone’s storage.

60+ Gift Ideas For Everyone On Your List

1. Netflix

Apologies to Netflix for us singling it out, but all streaming apps — including Netflix, Hulu, and Prime — take up serious storage space. Every time you download a show to watch, that’s a significant amount of space being gobbled up by your media files. You have choices, though. You can delete a few streaming apps and keep one or two of your favorites or even commit to deleting old files right away so that they don’t hog your storage space.

2. Instagram

Social media apps are resource-intensive, and Instagram — with its many photos and videos — is among the worst offenders when it comes to sucking up storage space. There’s very little you can do other than delete Instagram to gain back significantly more storage, but if that’s not in the cards, deleting other social media like TikTok and Snapchat can alleviate some of these storage burdens so that Instagram affects your phone a bit less.

fortnite

3. Fortnite

Sorry to have to make an example out of Fortnite, but it’s a good one to mention because it has intense graphics and consumes a considerable amount of storage space on your device. Games can be wonderful for passing the time while you’re in a doctor’s waiting room and have nothing more than your iPhone in hand, but the more complex and animated a game is, the more storage it tends to take up.

4. Google Maps

We accept a certain amount of battery drainage and storage depletion for the benefit of using apps with GPS that can get us from point A to point B. You may notice more storage issues than normal though if you are using more than one of these apps so that you can compare traffic and routes. Google Maps is known for being one of the more storage consuming of these apps, which is something to keep in mind if you’re trying to find ways to save space.
