If there’s a great hack out there that can make our iPhones run better and faster and prolong the length of its battery — show us the way. Tech experts always have tricks up their sleeves that most of us aren’t privy to, but the best hacks for better battery life aren’t magical or at all complicated. In fact, they can take just seconds to achieve, but the first step is, of course, knowing what to do. This is the surprising hack that makes your iPhone battery last so much longer — and tech experts love and rely on this one.

Enable Optimized Battery Charging

According to Tech Expert Stephen Curry, CEO at CocoSign, enabling the Optimized Battery Option is an important step towards your efforts to improve the battery capacity of your iPhone. As simple as it is to do, many iPhone users simply forget to take advantage of this setting.

“Everyone wants to have their phone charged when they wake up but leaving your phone to an overnight charge comes with a significant decrease in battery health which directly impacts battery lastings,” Curry says. “Optimized Battery Charging is a feature that allows your iPhone to read your charging system. If you leave your iPhone charging overnight, it will charge up to 80% and will continue to charge when the battery drops from 80%. This not only keeps the battery health intact but keeps your phone’s temperature in control benefiting the internal heat-sensitive components too.”

To enable Optimized Battery Charging on your iPhone: Go to Settings> Battery> Battery Health> Optimized Battery Charging.

While you’re getting your phone in better working order, don’t neglect another step.

Enable Low Power Mode

Consider Low Power Mode your safety net when your phone charge begins to dip down low. “Not only should you utilize Low Power Mode when you’re just kicking around all day, it’s a great idea to charge your phone while it’s set to Low Power Mode,” says Tech Expert Olivia Tan, the co-founder of CocoFax. “You can do this by toggling on the battery logo in the control center. It enables the iPhone to use 30% less battery making your battery run for a longer time. It dims your screen, which eats up most of your battery life. It can also make the phone stop working for other apps and make your phone focus on the charging alone to gain more high-quality charging.”

These two essential battery-saving steps take seconds to do and might just make the biggest difference in your phone’s speed and performance.
