And there is one vegetable you might be eating very frequently that isn’t as good for you as you might think.

That’s right - not all vegetables are created equally. While some vegetables, like spinach or kale, are always a healthy choice, there are others that should be eaten in moderation because too much can load your diet with excess carbs and starches.

You should avoid eating potatoes too often in your diet when trying to lose weight because this vegetable is very high in carbs and starch, plus it is higher in calories than most other vegetables. Potatoes are relatively low in nutrients like fiber or protein, which are essential to maintaining a healthy weight.

It is important to note that there are benefits to potatoes. For example, they are high in potassium and vitamins B-6 and C. Potatoes are often used in healthy recipes because they are a better alternative to starches like bread or pasta that are even higher in carbs. But it is best to eat potatoes in moderation since they aren’t perfect.

If you don’t plan to cut potatoes out of your diet completely, just pay attention to how your potatoes are prepared. Baked or boiled potatoes are always a better choice than fried potatoes, like French fries or potato chips.
