Target is making some major updates to their COVID-19 response. In an updated statement, the Minneapolis-based chain detailed what new safety precautions and store policies have been added to help keep their customers and employees safe.

All Target stores have added a social distancing policy. The company's statement reads: "Target is now actively monitoring and, when needed, limiting the total number of people inside based on the store’s specific square footage. If metering is needed, a team member will help guests into a designated waiting area outside with social distancing markers, while others will guide guests inside the store and keep things moving quickly and conveniently."

This measure is in addition to the signage, floor decals, and audio messages that are already being used in stores to encourage shoppers and employees to maintain social distancing.

The statement continues, explaining what measures the Target team is taking: "Target will begin providing all team members in our stores and distribution centers with high-quality, disposable face masks and gloves at the beginning of every shift, and strongly encourage our teams to wear them while working."

Delivery service workers from Shipt will also be given masks and gloves.

Target has also added Plexiglass partitions to check out lanes, service desks, the pharmacy, and Target Optical.

These added safety measures and changes to store policy are designed to keep both Target customers and employees safe while still providing people with groceries, medicine, and other essentials.
