Breakfast Sandwich
Breakfast sandwiches are a popular breakfast--and, with the right adjustments, they can be weight loss friendly too. However, the most popular breakfast sandwiches miss the mark when it comes to weight loss.
Oftentimes, they add a bagel, cheese, and bacon or sausage to the serving of eggs. With that in mind, an breakfast sandwich could add up to a high calorie breakfast.
According to Health, "[M]ost bagels lack vitamins, minerals, and fiber. And without fiber, the carbohydrates in a bagel digest quickly, convert to sugar, and then, very possibly, to fat."
Add highly processed breakfast meats to the mix, and your egg dish becomes even more unhealthy.
With that in mind, sticking to other egg dishes, like omelettes and scrambled eggs, is a good idea. Plus, you can easily incorporate veggies like peppers, onion, and spinach into these dishes--making them even better for you.
If you really want a breakfast sandwich, make sure you're eating it in moderation, or looking for healthier alternatives. Opting for whole wheat thin buns or whole wheat (or even spinach) tortillas is also a good way to keep your breakfast healthy.
