Although you can eat almost anything in moderation, limiting your salt intake is one smart way of maintaining a healthy diet. Specifically, high-sodium sauces are a dangerous ingredient in your diet, especially because you may not realize just how much salt you are eating.

With that in mind, keep reading for the one high-sodium sauce you should never use if you are trying to lose weight and eat healthier!

Soy Sauce

Soy sauce is very high in sodium. According to Healthine,soy sauce contains 902 mg of sodium per tablespoon, accounting for about 38% of the Recommended Daily Intake.

With this much sodium per serving, soy sauce can be a dangerous addition to your diet, especially if you are hoping to lose weight.

This high amount of salt can lead to weight gain. According to WebMD, "[P]eople who eat high amounts of salt actually drink less water than those who have smaller amounts of salt in their diet. They also become hungrier. Over the long term, that boost in appetite could lead us to overeat and gain weight."

Too much salt can also lead to to other health issues. Specifically, it can raise your blood pressure, which can lead to several other health problems, including heart disease.

With that in mind, restricting your sodium intake by cutting out high-sodium sauces is a good way to start living healthier and maintaining a healthy weight.
