With fake news and coronavirus scams circulating on this platform, taking a break from it could be a good way to protect yourself from false information. According to tech expert Reuben Yonatan, founder and CEO of GetVoIP, it's important to be wary of coronavirus-related scams that are circulating on Facebook. He explains, "People should stay off social media during quarantine to avoid Covid-19 related scams. Take the fake message that spread throughout social media early last month. He continues, "It took UNICEF publicly denouncing the message for people to stop falling victim."

This is not the only scam on Facebook right now. Yonatan explains, "While this was a relatively tame scam in comparison, others are aimed at defrauding you or obtaining personal information that will be used to hack into your accounts. Note that because right now, everyone is hyper-attuned to information about Covid-19, thinking rationally and avoiding these scams can prove difficult."

With that in mind, limiting the amount of time you spend on social media--and being very careful to avoid scams when you are online--is a good way to protect yourself during quarantine.
