Raise your hand if you’ve been spending a lot of time in quarantine on your phone. Same! It’s socially responsible to stay inside and watch movies, text friends and scroll Instagram–but there is one scary mistake you could be making with your iPhone during the COVID-19 outbreak.
(And no we’re not talking about texting your ex–but please don’t do that either!)

Experts say that the worst thing you can during the outbreak is forget to wipe down your phone after running errands.
"The worst mistake is not cleaning your phone after any outdoor exposure," board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Gary Linkov of City Facial Plastics Best tells us.
"Best practice is to wipe down the phone on all surfaces after any outdoor exposure in a potentially COVID existing environment."
So--what should you use that is safe for your device? "A disinfectant wipe can be used or the phone can be sprayed with alcohol (from a spray bottle) and allowed to dry," he advises. "This is unlikely to damage the phone, especially if you have a cover on it."

And that goes for your other personal items, as well. "Sanitize any items you may have touched while outside of your home such as your phone or keys," Dr. Vandana A. Patel, M.D., F.C.C.P. and clinical advisor for Cabinet advises.
