Losing weight, especially a significant amount like 30 pounds, requires a strategic approach that combines healthy eating, regular exercise, and lifestyle changes. While there are no shortcuts to sustainable weight loss, there are several smart and effective methods that could help you achieve your goal more quickly.

Soraya (@project.s.lifestyle), a certified weight loss/nutrition coach who has over 463K followers on TikTok, shared her top three tips to lose as much as 30 pounds in a healthy and sustainable manner. Her go-to methods are to drink 1/2 your body weight in oz. of water daily, take 7K+ steps every day, and seek professional help if nothing else is working. Read on to learn more.

1. Drink 1/2 Your Body Weight In Ounces

It's no secret that water is beneficial for overall health in many ways. One reason is that drinking water before a meal can help you feel fuller, reducing your overall calorie intake. Often, thirst is mistaken for hunger, leading to unnecessary snacking; staying hydrated can help prevent this.

Soraya says that "you want to aim to drink half your body weight in ounces of water every single day. This helps you stay comfortably full throughout the day because sometimes if you don't drink enough water, you might feel like you're hungry when really you're thirsty."

Many people struggle to stay motivated to drink water throughout the day, but Soraya suggests investing in a cute water bottle that will make staying hydrated more enjoyable.

2. 7K+ Steps Daily

Walking is an underrated form of physical activity that can help burn calories. The more steps you take, the more calories you burn, contributing to a calorie deficit that's crucial for weight loss.

Achieving 7K+ steps daily helps to ensure that you stay consistent when it comes to physical activity, which is key to long-term weight management and keeping off excess weight.

"Walking helps with your metabolism, helps increase your total daily energy expansion, and just supports overall weight loss," she says. If 7K steps feel too difficult at first, start by gradually increasing your goal from 2K to 3K steps, and work your way up to 7K over time.

3. Get Professional Help

Weight loss can be an emotional journey, and having a professional to offer support, encouragement, and strategies to cope with setbacks can make a big difference in maintaining your motivation and mental well-being.

Professionals like dietitians, nutritionists, and personal trainers have the expertise to create a tailored plan that fits your unique needs, lifestyle, and health conditions. They can help you navigate through various diet and exercise options, ensuring you're following a safe and effective path.

"Getting help is the quickest way to get to your goals and be able to maintain them long-term," Soraya notes.
