A portable charger is a convenient accessory to have just in case you need to power up your device when you’re far from home or an outlet. But many tech experts agree: when it comes to choosing the best power sources for an iPhone, portable chargers fall far down the list. This is the unexpected downside to portable chargers that no one tells you about, according to tech experts.

Portable Chargers have drained battery

Portable chargers are usually used only during traveling, outdoor meetings, and in situations where there is a lack of electricity — which makes them incredible handy to have around, according to Brent Hale, the Chief Content Strategist at Tech Guided. But, because of this, you probably use a portable charger less than normal chargers. “The drawback of portable chargers is that these chargers start to lose their battery capacity if you don’t use them regularly,” Hale explains. “A portable charger starts to diminish as its battery starts to drain more than before. It doesn’t charge quickly as it used to in earlier stages. The lack of frequent use of power banks or portable chargers leads to its power drainage.”

Steven Walker, CEO of Spylix, says there are some basic cons of portable chargers that should be on your radar:

They are not designed for car outlet plugs.

They will not work on a flight unless the seat has an electrical outlet.

They consume electricity, which can be a con sometimes.

They are easy to forget anywhere.

Their battery gets drained easily.

They need to be charged regularly.

They are bulky to carry.

Wondering what a better alternative is? “The best charger for your iPhone is its original charger that comes with an adopter and cable,” Walker says.
