The user added, "I tried to order about $10 of small items and they wanted 6.99 for a pickup time at my nearest walmart." Fellow Walmart fans then began sharing similar experiences in the post's comment section. One commenter wrote, "Yeah, there’s a minimum $ amount to get free curbside. To stop people from ordering candy bars and expecting us to take it out to them."
Someone else chimed in, writing, "Minimum amount now is $35 dollars for free pickup." Another Walmart shopper added, "Sadly customers abused the system. So all of us get screwed now with fees."
On Twitter, shoppers in the past year have also taken to the site to complain. "Shame on you Walmart!! Walmart is now charging a fee for in person/ curbside pickup," one tweeted in November 2022 as another wrote, "Is there a reason you charge $7 for curbside pickup if an order is under $35 @Walmart? What? Is that the "poor people" fee? Sure seems that way.
Walmart Confirms That Orders That Don't Reach The 'Minimum' Amount Have A Fee
On Walmart's website, regarding curbside pickup fees and their return policy, the company's message reads: "Fees apply to some methods, and you can see any fees from your cart." The department store chain also notes that one can "pick up orders over $35 for free," and that "orders that don’t reach the $35 minimum have a fee."
One other Twitter user explained their view on the curbside pickup fees this month, tweeting, "I've been using Walmart curbside pickup since Covid began. They now have "bring your own" and the clerks pack your bags as they load. It seems like a lot of extra work for them out in the elements and I appreciate the service very much. There is a small fee savings too."
