The company announced that it would be removing all cashiers and standard conveyor belt lines at its popular store located in in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Walmart says the removal of cashiers is their attempt to see if checkout times are faster while limiting human interaction in the age of COVID-19. Makes sense!

The company asserts that workers will still be available to help customers who have trouble doing the checkout themselves. I imagine that the store's senior guests will appreciate this step!

Based off the results of the Arkansas trial, the company will decide if it should expand the program to more stores across the country. Can't hurt to test it!

Additionally, the store recently launched a contactless payment system aimed at helping slowing the spread of the virus. We really appreciate their concerns for workers' and customers' safety.

Don't forget that health officials in Denver, Colorado ordered a store to close in April after three people died and six employees tested positive for the flu. Yikes!
