Walmart Just Made A Major Announcement–& Employees Are Freaking Out!

Walmart just announced that it’s raising the hourly pay for hundreds of thousands of employees, effective March 13th. This is huge!

The big box chain will increase wages for 425K employees, Associated Press reports.

The Arkansas-based company is giving raises to 425,000 of its 1.5 million U.S. workers. They are also investing $14 billion to speed up its distribution network amid the novel coronavirus outbreak.

“Change in retail accelerated in 2020," CEO Doug McMillon said last week. ”The capabilities we’ve built in previous years put us ahead, and we’re going to stay ahead. Our business is strong, and we’re making it even stronger with targeted investments to accelerate growth.”

The company outlined that it’s raising its hourly wage from $14 to $15. Pay for workers in online and stocking roles will jump up to between $13 and $19 per hour (based on location).

They are not the only retailer to recently increase wages; Trader Joe's recently increased hourly wages by $4. Amazon and Target increased hourly wages to $15 for all workers. We love this trend!
