Walmart is inching closer to stealing Amazon Prime‘s thunder completely!
The Arkansas-based company announced on Wednesday, December 2nd that it would be doing away with the $35 minimum order value that subscribers to its Walmart Plus loyalty program had to meet for next-day or two-day shipping. This is huge!
The big box chain announced the news via press release on their corporate site that they were "Putting Something Extra Under the Tree," for loyalty members by making fast shipping free for the holidays.
The company had previously launched their new e-commerce membership program in September at a cheaper price point--just $98 per year--than Amazon's Prime $119 one.

At the time, Amazon's free shipping gave them a competitive edge--but not anymore! Will Walmart will be launching rival programs to Prime Video and Amazon Fresh next?

There is one caveat--the free shipping only applies to items on the retailer’s website such as toys, appliances and clothing. Groceries will still have the $35 minimum because they delivered from stores.
