I freakin’ LOVE Bloomingdale’s – point blank. I can always find something that I need – or want… but like, what’s the difference? The store has endless brands, at all different price points, and features a new sale or promotion every day. Clothing, bags, shoes, makeup, accessories, home decor… the list goes on and on. Not to mention, 40 Carrots fro-yo is heaven on Earth (yum). I thought I knew the ins-and-outs of all that Bloomingdale’s has to offer – but one fateful day, I was proven wrong.
I found this dress that was amazing – my size, great color, and worked for the event I was going to – perfect, swipe! But then I realized that the dress was missing a tag, and I had no idea how much it was. It could really go either way at this point – this was either a great dress at an affordable price, or I somehow managed to pick up something from the more elite inventory. So I took the dress over to the register and what happened next was indescribable…
Just kidding – I’m gonna tell you what happened, duh. The saleswoman could not find the dress anywhere in their system – no SKU number could pull this dress up on the screen. This was the day that I learned one of Bloomingdale’s best kept secrets:
If an item does not show up anywhere in their system, Bloomingdale’s has a policy that they will sell you the item for one cent. That’s right – one penny.
So ladies, to this day, my friends all know that dress as the “penny dress,” and I encourage you to search the racks for your own “penny dress.” You never know what you’ll find…
