Last spring, we noticed the pajama pant trend emerging, but it never did catch on. Fast forward to 2013 and it’s in full force. What changed? We’re guessing the embellished sweatshirt craze has something to do with it. After all, if you can wear a glorified sweatshirt to work, why not throw in elastic waist pants, too? Disclaimer: We do not advocate wearing both a graphic sweatshirt and a pajama pants to work. However, we have come up with a few styling tips to help you pull off this trend without looking like you just rolled out of bed.
- Always pair with heels. Any pair will do, but we especially like strappy sandals. Whatever you do though, avoid flats. They’ll send out a much too casual vibe.
- Wear a basic top. We know that head-to-toe print is very “in” right now, but good judgement says to keep the party on the bottom and go plain Jane up top. We’d opt for a black or white silk blouse, tucked in.
- Add a statement necklace. The final step in classing up those PJ pants is throwing on a coordinating statement necklace.
That’s it! Your pajama pants + 3 pieces = instantly fashionable (and downright comfortable) ensemble. Shop our favorite pairs in the slideshow.
